From a Father's Day card I made from him in 2002. |
||
Dad, it is difficult for me to express with words how
grateful I am that you are my dad. Many of my friends cannot say that they
are proud of their father. I am blessed that I can.
You have always been larger-than-life to me, like John Wayne – a man who does what is right even if it causes him harm. We were never rich while I was growing up, but I had everything I needed. If I was in need of something, you would somehow get it. When I was with you I feared nothing. I knew that you’d give even your life for me. And now that I’m on my own, you are not just my father; you are also my friend, my counselor. |
You don’t
push your will on me; instead you offer wisdom when I need it. You patiently
wait and hope that I find, with God’s help, the way out of my pain.
I thank God that you are my father. Through your life I witnessed a loving father. Therefore it was easy for me to believe that my heavenly father loves me, loves me so much that He came to this earth for me and selflessly gave His life for mine so that I would live. And because I believe, through your example, that Jesus died for me, I have eternal life. Thank you for being my dad. |
